Antibiotics All Around!

Posted on

The new year started, as every year, with national and international business travel for sales meetings, client meetings and investor conferences, complete with breakfast meetings, lunch and dinner meetings – the usual start of the year meeting circuit. Dani and I were on the road a lot, shook a lot of hands and were exposed to a lot of viruses.

Obviously, by early February we both were down with head and chest colds, as every year, but this time it was different because the colds didn’t go away. It lingered on and on. After three weeks of self medicating, the primary care physician diagnosed us with “the cold that is going around right now”.

“Rest and fluids should do the trick”, we were told.

But they didn’t!

By mid-March my sinuses started to produce yellowish, bloody mucus and I was back on a 10-day antibiotics treatment regime. Dani was hit even harder this time with night sweats and a nasty, persistent dry cough that led to her pulling her back muscles, in addition to her sinus issues. Antibiotics all around!

Even during a bad cold season year we wouldn’t be sick constantly for 2 months. Something was clearly wrong and different so we started to do some online research. This was when we first learned about residential mold in older beach homes.
